Progress Continues on Timberwolf Stadium
1 July 2005
Work continues to progress on Timberwolf Stadium at Fort Bragg High School. This summer while classes are on break the Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation is making some additions to the constantly improving stadium. Some of the additions and improvements patrons of the stadium will see are: concrete walks from the home seating area to the food concession and ticket booth areas, newly painted handrails throughout the stadium, improvements in the announcer booth and numerous other detail work.
The Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation has numerous fundraising projects to raise money to help complete Timberwolf Stadium. Two of the most successful fundraisers have been the sponsorship of stadium seats and advertising billboards. An individual or business can sponsor one or more seats for $150 per seat and have their name, a friend or loved one, or their business identified on a plaque on that seat. The cost of $150 can even be paid over a period of months, if needed. A billboard can be placed on the stadium wall for a cost of $3,000 and that will allow the billboard to be in place for approximately ten years. This $3,000 can also be over a period of months, if necessary.
In addition to the two fundraisers above the Foundation will be selling hamburgers at the annual Paul Bunyan Logging Show on Sept 4 as well as sponsoring a golf tournament on October 2, 2005 at Little River Inn, participating in the annual crab feed in Feb 2006 and hosting their annual Dinner Auction at the Wharf on March 2, 2006. Anyone wishing to donate merchandise toward the auction can contact President Madeline Melo at 964-0676 or Rich Pyorre at 964-6331.
Donations to the Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation are tax deductible and your donations are leveraged to about a 4 to 1 ratio meaning if you donate $1 that translates to about $4 of improvements to the stadium. The Foundation is a volunteer organization so there is no paid staff, and with the exception of some minor business expenses, all of the money raised goes directly to the project.
Come out to Timberwolf Stadium and see what a great example our community has set for others to follow.
