Inspiration Rock Dedication
18 October 2012
A large rock, installed near the entrance of Timberwolf Stadium, will be dedicated on Friday night Oct 19th during the halftime of the Fort Bragg – Willits varsity football game. It will be known as "inspiration rock" and it is hoped it will remind those who see it, of what can be accomplished when a community works together. The rock will bear a plaque honoring Jere Melo and Virgil Nelson who were dedicated to this community effort of building Timberwolf Stadium.
Although the rock will bear the names of Jere and Virgil it will also be a symbol of what our community has accomplished and should inspire community volunteerism in all those who view it. The rock, just as everything in the stadium, was the effort of volunteerism and was donated and trucked to the stadium and put in place all by volunteer effort.
Although Jere and Virgil were the kind of guys that did things and didn't want a lot of recognition, we think they would like the idea of inspiring others to do more. We also think they would appreciate the fact that “Inspiration Rock” was done at no cost to the Sports Foundation they worked so hard for.
Come on out Friday night for the dedication of "Inspiration Rock" and honor two men who contributed so much to getting Timberwolf Stadium to where it is today!
