Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation Dinner Auction a Success
1 March 2009
The Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation held another successful fundraising dinner auction on March 5. Despite the difficult economic times the event was well attended and netted approximately $14,000 thanks to the generous businesses and individuals who donated items and those who bid on them. This was the 14th annual auction and is a reminder of how generous a community in which we live.
This year will be the 10 anniversary of the opening of Timberwolf Stadium (although we are not nearly complete). We are still approximately 25% away from full completion of the entire plan but each year brings us a little closer. This year the announcer booth has been completed as well as some electrical updates, new entrance gates and some additional concrete work at the entrance. Still moving forward and projected for completion near the end of the summer is the hand carved Timberwolf Stadium sign that will span the columns at its entrance. Additionally the schools parking lot adjoining the stadium is scheduled for paving after the end of school. Both of these latest additions should make quite an impression on those attending events at the stadium.
One of the ways the stadium was funded was by local businesses purchasing advertising billboards that are placed around the track and on the fences and various parts of the stadium. This advertising purchased was good for ten years and since we are now at the tenth year anniversary those who first purchased their ads are now up for renewal. The good news is the price has remained the same as from 10 years ago.
Another way Timberwolf Stadium has been funded is through the sponsorship of stadium seats. The seats are sponsored by a business or individual for $150 and your name or business, or the name of a friend or relative, can be placed on a memorial plaque on the seat. This is a great way to memorialize someone or something special to you.
Once again thank you to all of those who made our latest dinner auction a success. We have something every community would wish to emulate.
