Homecoming Improvements at Timberwolf Stadium
1 September 2008
Those who attended homecoming last Friday will have seen the new improvements to Timberwolf Stadium and how it is progressing. In the past few months the Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation has installed the permanent entrance gates to the stadium. These gates are stainless steel that have been sand blasted so they blend with concrete columns and because they are stainless steel will not rust. The gates were built and installed by Woody's Weld All at a greatly reduced price from what the actual market price would have been.
The continuing support toward the completion of Timberwolf Stadium is a credit to our community. We still have items to complete such as 40% of the concrete work for the home side seating; permanent fencing and a walkway on the north end of the stadium; a second set of bathrooms on the visitors side; the all weather track and completion of the landscaping. The sports foundation is scheduling work for the stadium as money is available and will be doing concrete work at the entrance by adding a 10 foot wide walkway in front of the entrance and just before the parking lot. Once this walkway is completed the school district will be paving the parking lot and the entrance will be even more inviting.
Our community should be proud of this tremendous effort of volunteerism by so many. Our community has come together to build this stadium which not only serves our schools and citizens but also is a benefit to our local economy and can also serve as a disaster staging area. The current value of our stadium is approximately $15 million yet it has been built with contributions of slightly over $1 million. If you like to see your money well spent, and who doesn't, then this one deserves your consideration. The Mendocino Coast Sports Foundation is a 501-C3 organization that has been working on this project since 1992.
